Blackhawks Re-Sign Johnny Oduya To A 3-Year Deal


The Chicago Blackhawks have announced on Tuesday that they have re-signed defenseman Johnny Oduya to a three-year contract extension.

Oduya, 30, was traded to Chicago in late February from Winnipeg and after the acquisition, the Blackhawks finished the regular season with a 12-2-3 record. 


In the final 18 regular season games Oduya participated in, he registered 1 goal and 4 assists and posted an ice-time average of 24:25 minutes per game, ranking third among Blackhawks defenseman.

The Swedish native recorded 3 points, all assists, in the 6 postseason games against the Phoenix Coyotes and ranked third on the team in ice-time with an average of 23:14 minutes per game.

UPDATE: TSN's Darren Dreger reports that Johnny Oduya's three-year deal with the Blackhawks carries an annual cap hit of $3.375 million.
