When Michael Frolik was invited to the Blackhawks convention this weekend at the Hilton Chicago, it was obvious that a deal was going to be announced very soon. Well, with the convention starting tonight, it couldn't have come at a better time.
Chicago Blackhawks have agreed to a 3-year deal with forward Michael Frolik worth a total of $7 million ($2.3 million cap hit).
Frolik was acquired by Chicago on February 9, 2011, and in 28 games with the Blackhawks, he scored 3 goals with 6 assists. The 23-year old forward also had a strong performance in this years playoffs netting 2 goals in addition to 3 assists in the 1st round against Vancouver.
Chicago also made a minor signing this afternoon adding some more blue-line depth by grabbing defenseman Sami Lepisto. The deal is reported to be 1 year with a $750,000 cap hit.
Lepisto, who turns 28 in October, played 70 games with Phoenix and Columbus last season recording 16 points (4 goals 12 assists) and a +10 rating. While he is considered to be a puck-moving defenseman, Lepisto also finished the season with 90 blocked shots combined and 72 hits.
